As the authoritative voice of the natural health industry, the HFMA supports the interests of its members with legislators and regulators; promotes industry best practice for product quality and safety; and provides responsible information for consumers.
The pace of regulatory development and change for food supplements, herbal remedies and other natural health products is relentless and it is the HFMA’s role to keep our Members updated with these developments, understand Members’ views on the legislation and represent those views to legislators and regulators in the UK and EU..
The following pages outline some of the key legislative developments affecting the natural health products industry and, where feasible, we have given links to consolidated legislation texts. Much more extensive and topical information is to be found in the Members-only section of the website. Members are also kept up-to-date via regular news bulletins and attendance at regular HFMA ‘Working Group’ meetings that are open to all Members.
On some of the following pages, we have reproduced the copy prepared for various articles published in ‘Health Food Business’: whilst these were accurate at the time of writing, they have not been updated subsequently.
